At around 03:30am Wednesday, the Harris County Sheriff's Office says Susana Zepeda was operating a gray 2011 Nissan Versa in the inside westbound lane in the 17700 block of Clay Road. Deputies say Zepeda failed to drive in a single marked lane, struck the raised median and crossed left of center. The vehicle entered the ditch, located on the south side of the road, and began to roll. The vehicle struck the embankment on the south side of the ditch and began to rotate.
The vehicle then struck a wooden sign, several trees and a wrought iron fence.
Deputies say Zepeda was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The accident is being investigated by the Harris Co. Sheriff's Office.
