Houston police said a woman and two men pulled up to Crofton Place Apartments on Crofton near Hallshire around 10:30pm Friday.
According to officials, they were there to buy drugs when someone approached their vehicle and tried to rob them at gunpoint.
There was a struggle over a gun and all three were shot, police said.
One of the men died at the scene. The other man and the woman were rushed to an area hospital for treatment. They are expected to recover.
Police said all survivors are in custody. So far, no charges have been filed. The case remains under investigation.
