North Texas agencies deal with cuts

FORT WORTH, TX

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the closure of AIDS Resources of Rural Texas was expected to result in many of the agency's 350 clients turning to Tarrant County groups for help. The rural agency operated centers in Weatherford and Abilene.

The AIDS Outreach Center in Fort Worth has already had to reduce its number of case managers from seven four and is scaling back its food pantry.

Fort Worth agencies say they are dealing with a reduction of federal funds from the Ryan White CARE Act this year.

Officials say services most affected by the cuts include food pantries, transportation assistance, day-care programs and nonmedical case management.
