Several union workers attended the directors meeting Thursday near the Texas Medical Center. They brought up an incident on June 21 in which a noose was found in the emergency room area of Ben Taub Hospital.
"Administration had ignored the matter and the action taken was inappropriate. The board assured us it will be looked at, re-examined and action adjusted accordingly," said Thomas Webb Sr., Staff Rep. for AFSCME Union 1550.
The hospital district said it reviewed the incident and found no malicious or threatening intent behind the knot. The district also said it developed an enhanced district-wide diversity program.
