Just before 9am, a garbage truck that was eastbound on the Eastex Freeway at Beltway 8 North caught fire.
The truck was able to get over to the shoulder, but the fire department blocked all eastbound lanes for nearly 20 minutes.
Officials finally opened one lane, allowing some traffic to squeeze past the incident.
They continued to block the other two lanes of this stretch, making for a slow commute for drivers in that area.
No injuries were reported.
