Cicely Denise Petty, 37, is charged with abandoning a child. Back on April 27, a witness reportedly spotted a 10-year-old boy walking by himself in heavy traffic along the 11100 block of Hillcroft. She told police she was afraid for the boy's safety so she gave him a ride to her home and called his father.
According to court documents, the boy told police his mother was angry with him for getting into trouble at school and she had said she was "done with him." He said she then dropped him off on the side of the road and he started walking home. The boy was reportedly abandoned a little more than a mile from his family's apartment.
As of Monday morning, Petty had not yet been arrested in the case. Bail was set at $2,000.
