Hardin County Sheriff Ed Cain told KFDM-TV that the girl had bruises and burns "basically from head to toe."
Amanda Guidry and Jason Delacerda, both of Kountze (koontz), were jailed Friday without bond on felony charges of injury to a child. Jail records did not list attorneys for the pair, who were arrested Thursday.
Cain says Delacerda called 911 Wednesday about the child, who died later at a hospital. Preliminary autopsy results show the girl, whose name wasn't immediately released, suffered blunt force trauma.
A Child Protective Services spokeswoman says the girl had a skull fracture, cigarette burns on her chest and allegedly was sexually abused.
