According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident happened around 11am Saturday on F.M. 523 at County Road 210 just outside Angleton.
Officials said a 61-year-old pilot and mechanic was taking someone's plane for a test fly. He took off but could not get the plane above 400 feet, and then the engine failed.
The plane hit some power lines and took a nosedive to the ground.
The pilot managed to get out of the plane and call the owner. The owner took the man to the hospital with some broken bones.
DPS officials said the man was lucky to ealk away from the crash landing.
