Homeowner shoots friend of stabbing victim
HOUSTON
Houston police say at around 1am Sunday patrol officers responding to an assault in progress call in the 10000 block of Epsom found one male stabbed and the body of another male who had been fatally shot outside the residence.
Witnesses reported the deceased man was celebrating his wedding when he and his brother got into a fight with several guests, during which the brother was stabbed. At some point, two males ran away to the above address. The groom and his brother tried to enter the home by kicking and beating on the door. The home's resident was inside and, fearing for his life, fired a gun, fatally striking the groom.
The 23-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The 22-year-old brother of the deceased suffered a stab wound and was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital with non life-threatening wounds.
Charges will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
Police say they are still investigating the stabbing.
