One person dies in accident on Highway 288

PEARLAND, TX

It happened on Highway 288 near McHard around midnight. Officers arrived and found a vehicle in the center grass median, after spinning out.

Then officers discovered a second set of tracks which they followed into wooded area just off the freeway. That's where they discovered a pickup truck. Inside the truck was the body of a 61-year-old man.

Pearland police continue their investigation.

The northbound lanes of 288 were closed for a couple hours, but were back open for the majority of the morning rush hour.
