Suspected drunk driver arrested after high-speed chase

HOUSTON The chase began around 11:45pm Friday on U.S. 290 at Fairbanks when a Houston police officer running radar clocked a white car going 108 mph.

The officer tried to pull over the driver, but had a difficult time keeping up with her.

She drove outbound on 290 to Telge, then Cypress North Houston to Jones Rd. She turned onto Fallbrook, and then got onto F.M. 1960.

The chase finally ended when the woman stopped on Eldridge Parkway at F.M. 1960.

A couple of times during the chase, police said the suspect went off the road but managed to keep going.

Officers said the woman was upset and appeared to be intoxicated. Her emotional state was apparently why she did not stop for police, investigators said.

She faces felony evading charges and a possible driving while intoxicated charge.
