Teen driver killed in SW Houston crash
HOUSTON
It happened at 13700 South Main at Hillcroft just after midnight. Police say that according to witnesses, the victim was driving a silver Suzuki XL7 southbound on South Main. The Suzuki SUV left the stop sign at Summit Ridge, crossed the northbound lanes of South Main and then made an illegal u-turn over a grassy median.
The Suzuki then struck a blue Ford Explorer traveling south in the far left lane. The Ford rolled several times and came to a stop on the right shoulder.
The 17-year-old male driver of the Suzuki was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The driver of the Ford was also transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
