HISD adopts new bullying, harassment policy

HOUSTON

The district has adopted a stricter non-discrimination policy that protects students and employees from harassment based on gender identity and gender expression. The other change allows the district to transfer a bully to another campus.

Until now, only the victim of bullying could be transferred, which some said punished the victim instead of the aggressor.

This change puts the district in compliance with a new state law.
