A Yellow Cab driver picked up a customer at a men's club around 3am Saturday, then drove him to a home on Rittenhouse at DePriest in northwest Houston.
Police said the customer attacked the cab driver, assaulting and possibly attempting to rob him.
According to officials, the cab driver then pulled out a gun and shot his attacker.
The customer -- a black man in his 30s -- died at the scene.
Neighbors called police when they heard the shot. Police said the cab driver waited for them to arrive.
At this time, no charges are expected, but the case will be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.
