Woman accused of faking cancer gets jail

GOLDEN, CO Ann Crall, of Highlands Ranch, was sentenced Thursday in Golden. After serving time in jail, she will face 10 years of intensive supervised probation for the four-year fake cancer ruse that began in 2005.

Authorities say the 31-year-old deceived her husband, a former police officer, as well as his co-workers and their church so she could pay for her prescription drug habit.

Denver's KMGH-TV reported that one of Crall's victims, J.J. Beattie, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor herself and that Crall asked her for pain medications. Beattie says Crall made a mockery of people who actually have cancer.

Crall apologized in court, calling her actions "insanity."
