It happened in Surfside Beach, east of Freeport, around 12:30pm Saturday.
According to Surfside Beach police and EMS, the boy was in the water with his family when he was swept away in an undertow.
He was lost momentarily, but was then located by his parents who carried him ashore and performed CPR.
The boy was revived and was then stabilized by EMS when they arrived.
Officials said he was a bit lethargic and disoriented and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital via LifeFlight as a precaution.
