Attorney calls council member's flier 'highly irresponsible'

HOUSTON

Hardin spoke his mind Tuesday at City Hall. Last week, Council Member Jolanda Jones said she's been handing out fliers advising people of their rights when dealing with police. That spurred an OIG investigation. Jones says the fliers are just part of her private job as an attorney. But Hardin told council members he disagreed.

"I think it's a horrible, horrible example to set, for any public official to foster distrust with a police as a group," said Hardin.

Jones wasn't at City Council today. When we reached her in Austin, she told us she's not worried about Hardin's comments.
