A pair of suspected truck thieves are in the hospital Tuesday afternoon after leading police on a brief chase that ended when they crashed into a family's car. The crash happened around 2pm at the intersection of Quitman and the Eastex Freeway. The chase started when an off-duty HPD officer, working a side job, checked the truck's license plates and realized it had been reported stolen.

A short time later, the truck hit a PT Cruiser with two women and a child inside. All of them were taken to the hospital, as well as the two people in the truck.

We don't know their current conditions.
