A Gillespie County jury has found the former general manager of the Pedernales Electric Cooperative guilty of third-degree theft, misapplication of fiduciary property and money laundering. The punishment phase in the trial of Bennie Fuelberg was under way late Friday. He faces from two to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. The defense said it would ask for probation.

The charges stem from payments of hundreds of thousands of dollars in co-op money arranged through a law firm to Fuelberg's brother and the son of a longtime Pedernales board member.
