The city of Houston has new rules to follow regarding historic districts. The City Council Wednesday approved changes to the Historic Preservation Ordinance. They approved an amendment which increases the percentages required for a neighborhood seeking a historic designation. It's now a two-thirds majority of property owners.

Another rule sets a 30-day limit for property owners to reconsider a currently established historic designation.
