Driver slams into northwest Houston home

HOUSTON Investigators say the driver of a pickup was speeding on 43rd Street when he took a curve and lost control of the vehicle.

The truck smashed through a house on Nina Lee and ruptured a gas line. Fortunately, the gas did not ignite. CenterPoint was called out to cap the leak.

The pickup made it all the way to the backyard. The crash violently woke up the homeowners. The damage left behind from the crash was devastating.

"I was sound asleep. The dog was on the bed and I thought the house exploded," said homeowner Dominic Abney. "I grabbed the dog and grabbed him and I just threw all three of us out of the house."

No one in the house was hurt. The driver was treated for a head injury. Authorities say the driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
