Katy teacher accused of sexual assault

Phillip Vassell is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child. The alleged incidents happened at a hotel off the Katy Freeway.

Katy ISD sent this statement, "Upon becoming aware...of allegations that Vassell was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a student, administrators responded by removing him from campus and placing him on administrative leave."

Vassell later resigned on his own.
