Man finds drugs on the beach

A retired Illinois police officer, who worked narcotics for 18 years, found a big batch of drugs while walking on a beach in South Padre Island. [SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

The officer and his wife found two bricks of cocaine washed up on the shore. Law officers say the cocaine is about 65 to 90 percent pure and has a street value of about $30,000.

Local sheriff's deputies turned the cocaine over to federal agents.
