The victim was identified as 58-year-old Lee Othis Ryans. However, his company hasn't released any information on what exactly happened to him.
The accident happened about 4:30am on Brentwood near South at the train yard of Rescar, Inc. According to the company's website, they offer maintenance services for companies who own, rent or lease railroading stock and they provide a number of other services, including restoration of train cars.
Company officials say workers were trying to switch out two train cars when one worker got caught in between the two cars. The worker didn't survive the accident.
OSHA investigators are looking into this accident. According to OSHA's web site, the company has had 13 violations over the last five years at a variety of the Rescar facilities but none of those were at the Houston operation in Channelview.
Over the last several hours, we've seen many employees going in and out of the facility. However, we have not been allowed to go on the property. One worker told Eyewitness News that they've been told not to speak to the media about this accident or the company.
The incident is under investigation.
