He was the one Harris County Republican to win in the early vote and build on that lead. Emmett and his supporters watched election results last night at a hotel in the Galleria area. Emmett says a positive campaign helped him.
"All through this campaign, I ran a positive campaign," he said. "I think people are tired of negative campaigns and I think that went to my benefit and plus, I had a job performance that people could look at."
This was Emett's first election for Harris County judge. He was appointed to the position 20 months ago. He replaced Robert Eckels, who left county office to work for a private law firm.
