Firefighter hurt battling blaze

HOUSTON It happened at The Crossing complex on Dashwood near Kirkwood about 3pm Saturday. Firefighters arrived to find at least two apartments burning on the second story and called for a second alarm to bring backup.

At one point, one firefighter had to be taken to a hospital for back injuries. He's is expected to be OK.

The residents made it out safely. In all, two apartments were damaged by flames and at least two others were damaged by smoke. Fire investigators are looking into the cause.
