Fundraiser for bus crash victims

HOUSTON The Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston held a walk-and pray fundraiser in southeast Houston yesterday. Houstonians from all walks of life participated in the event. Some of them did not even know the victims.

"Everybody needs to get together and do something good for someone else, even though we don't know them," said Kha Nguyen who was a fundraiser participant. "Of course we know people that were involved, their family members and friends. So it feels really, really good. And it feels like, wow, someone really does care."

Last month, seventeen members of two Houston Vietnamese Catholic churches were killed while on their way to a religious festival. Many others were hurt.

All proceeds from the walk-and pray will help pay medical bills for the survivors.
