Elderly man found in charred home

Arson investigators are looking into the cause of a house fire that left one elderly man dead. It happened on Braewick near Grape in southwest Houston. Investigators say when firefighters arrived and they had a hard time moving inside the house because there was a lot of personal stuff in the way.

The strong flames caused the roof to collapse and firefighters were forced to go into defensive mode outside. Before crews even arrived, one woman's husband ran to the house to see if he could find anyone.

"They were running around and beating. He got up to the windows but about the time he got to the windows they were blowing out," said witness Sidney Duran.

Firefighters tapped the blaze out and found the victim when they went back in.
