Police say thieves target motorcycles

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX It only takes about $25 to fill up a motorcycle and most get 40 to 50 miles per gallon. Dealers say they've seen a 20 to 30 percent spike in recent sales. But more bikes also mean more thefts.

Montgomery County's auto theft task force is handling more bike thefts than last year.

"We are seeing the motorcycles taken everywhere, business, homes, restaurants, bars, anywhere people are leaving them unattended," said Lt. David Moore with the Montgomery Auto Theft Task Force.

Investigators say recovering stolen bikes can be tricky. They only find a small number of them.
