HISD will fire nearly two dozen teachers in a cost-cutting move.The school board voted to eliminate teachers in "non-core" subjects such as art, music, and physical education. The fired teachers will come from schools with declining enrollment, but the district has not said which schools will be affected. The fired teachers would be able to reapply for other positions in the school district.
