1 dead in East Freeway hit-and-run crash

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person was killed Saturday in a major crash involving a disabled vehicle, and authorities are looking for the other car involved.

It happened on the I-10 East Freeway near Federal Road.

A truck towing a small trailer was disabled on the side of the freeway when another vehicle veered out of its lane and crashed into it, killing one person, according to authorities on the scene.

The victim was changing a flat tire when the crash happened, authorities said.

Authorities on the scene said they have a possible description of the vehicle that fled, but a make and model wasn't immediately released.

Several lanes of the freeway were closed while crews worked to determine what exactly happened.

It happened along the East Freeway near Federal Road Saturday morning. Authorities believe they have a descripton of the vehicle that fled the crash.
