HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The weather just can't seem to make up its mind this week, and after a cool Tuesday, we're in for a record warm Wednesday. Then a strong cold front will blow in Wednesday night to put a chill in the air for Thanksgiving and rest of the month.
It won't cool off much Wednesday morning with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s at sunrise. We'll start off with plenty of clouds and a 10% chance of a morning rain shower. Once the sun breaks through the clouds, temperatures will be off to the races and challenge the record high of 84 set back in 1989.
We have high confidence now that a strong cold front will blow through Southeast Texas before sunrise on Thursday, bringing us a chilly, cloudy, and breezy holiday. Temperatures will start off in the mid 50s under a cloudy sky with winds gusting from the north at over 20 mph. With the clouds sticking around most of the day, temperatures will struggle to warm back into the low 60s. There is a 20% chance for a passing shower, but most will stay dry.
Yes, it will! We'll have some lovely weather Friday through the weekend with lows in the 40s, highs in the 60s, and plenty of sunshine coming through a deck of cirrus clouds.
We aren't seeing any signs of freezing weather over the next 10 days, but long range projections indicate there's a low chance for a light freeze during the second week of December. On average, Houston's first freeze occurs during the second week of December.
