North Fwy SB at FM 1960 reopens after truck fire

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An 18-wheeler covered in flames caused a traffic mess on the North Freeway Friday morning, but but that roadway has since been cleared and traffic is now flowing. The HOV lane remains closed, however.

Big rig fire on 45 southbound at Paramatta

Only two right lanes were open on the southbound lanes of the North Freeway at Paramatta for hours after a big rig caught fire on the northbound lanes. The fire sent a huge wall of flames across the southbound lanes, bringing vehicles to a halt.

The backup stretched for more than 10 miles.

We are not yet sure what sparked the fire, or whether the truck was involved in some sort of accident.
