TIMELINE: 6 members of Stay family killed in their home in Spring

HOUSTON, Texas -- Ronald Haskell Jr. is facing multiple counts of capital murder for the 2014 deaths of six family members inside a home in Spring. His case was reset 20 times since he was charged with the killings before finally going to trial.

Prosecutors say Haskell killed Stephen and Katie Stay and four of their children execution style. Cassidy Stay, who was 15 at the time of the murders, was the only survivor. She told deputies she played dead until Haskell left.

Haskell had been married to Katie Stay's sister and allegedly posed as a FedEx worker to get into the Stay family's home in July 2014. Prosecutors said he was angry about their recent divorce and went looking for his ex-wife.



Here's a timeline of events:



July 9, 2014


Deputies respond to the Stay home at 711 Leaflet Lane. Deputies find Stephen and Katie Stay and their four children dead, one child Cassidy survived.



Later that day, deputies arrest Ronald Haskell for their murders.



July 12, 2014



Friends and family welcome Cassidy back to the neighborhood.



Cassidy told the crowd, "I know that my Mom, Dad, Brian, Emily Becka and Zach are in a much better place and that I will be able to see them again one day."

July 16, 2014


Hundreds pack the church to say goodbye to the Stays. The family members are buried together in a private service.

October 11, 2014


Cassidy Stay is named to the homecoming court at Klein Collins High School.



"If my parents would be here at the game with me, they'd be cheering me on," said Cassidy.

After years of delays, Ronald Haskell goes to trial for the Stay family murders.
