Man firing gun on Snapchat embraces arrest with hashtag
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The man arrested after being spotted on Snapchat firing a gun in a park near the Heights had his first court appearance Monday morning.
Edwin Ospino didn't have much to say on his way into court, but he did recommend following him on social media.
"If you want to know more about me, just follow me," said Ospino.
His friend had on a shirt emblazoned with Ospino's Snapchat and Instagram handles.
Ospino's first Instagram post was just 14 hours ago.
The page bears the hashtag #Snapchatshooter.
Ospino was arrested after a Snapchat video showed him firing a handgun in Cottage Grove Park.
He told Eyewitness News in an exclusive interview Sunday he is not the person everyone thinks he is. It's the same message he had today before entering court.
"I'm not the person y'all are making me out to be," said Ospino as he walked into the courtroom.
Ospino is charged with deadly conduct discharging of a firearm, which is a felony.
He remains out on bond.
In court, we learned Ospino has several previous arrests out of Fort Bend County that include possession of a controlled substance and a robbery charge that was reduced to misdemeanor theft.
Ospino has set some of his social media accounts to private. When asked if he had anything else to say, he again said to follow him.
He did agree to meet later to discuss the latest in his court case.
