Woman to attempt to row boat from California to Hawaii

SAN DIEGO, CA -- An Arizona woman is embarking on a mission to row a tiny boat all the way from California to Hawaii. Mary Rose, an accountant from Phoenix, is taking off on her 2,400 mile journey from San Diego to Honolulu.

She's been training for three years, taking lessons and strength training. Mary says it will take three months and says she's doing it to raise awareness about birds at risk of extinction.

In case you're wondering, Rose has plenty of music and audio books to keep her entertained and has a satellite phone and a crew sailing next to her in case of an emergency.
