HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- American Lung Association knows everything is bigger in Texas, which is why they are combining two great Houston events into one this weekend.

The Texas Two-Step will get underway Saturday morning at 7 a.m. on the Rice University campus, where hundreds will take over the Owls' stadium for a unique fundraiser.

The event pairs the annual Fight for Air Climb with its Lung Force community walk, all raising funds to benefit the vital work American Lung Association is doing in Texas.

"They can expect lots of fun," development coordinator Noemi Velasquez told ABC13. "This is a family-friendly event to educate all ages, especially when it comes to lung health."

The Fight for Air Climb tests the skills of participants with a timed course through Rice Stadium's bleachers, challenging climbers of all experience levels to reach 1,200 steps.

If a walk might be more your pace, the Texas Two-Step will also feature a 1-3 mile course through the stadium, with options for avid walkers and beginners, too.

Participants can sign up as individuals or to participate as part of a team.

Velasquez said visitors will have a lot of fun, and it's all for a good cause.

"The funds, of course, go straight to research advocacy and our educational resources that we provide free to the communities," she said.
