"I've never had to prepare a funeral for anybody so right now, I'm still in shock," said Myra Gamez, the mom's sister.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 23-year-old mother was killed during a major crash involving an 18-wheeler on the East Freeway on Wednesday, and her family is not prepared for the heartache that Mother's Day will bring.

"I've never had to prepare a funeral for anybody so right now, I'm still in shock," said Myra Gamez, the mom's sister.

Miranda Jasso was described by her family as bubbly, funny and a young mom with a lot to live for. She was the mother of a 3-year-old girl named Adalyn.

"She will be crying and asking, 'I want my mommy,' so that's when it hits me," said Gamez. "I don't know how to tell her mom is not coming back."

Meanwhile, the Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. Authorities said Jasso veered left, hitting a car, and then appeared to have lost control and crashed behind an 18-wheeler.

Cell phone video obtained by ABC13 shows her car in flames and the driver of the 18-wheeler, along with another Good Samaritan, pulling Jasso out of the car in an attempt to save her.

Sadly, it was too late.

"We have not thanked them yet, but we would like to as a family," said Melissa Carrizal, Jasso's cousin.

This Mother's Day weekend will be a somber one. Jasso's mother is taking it hard.

"We are just trying to keep our family close, especially for Sunday. That's the one thing I'm dreading most," said Gamez.

The family now has since created a GoFundMe to help with expenses and has a planned benefit on Saturday, May 15, at El Social Sports and Entertainment, located at 2327 McCarty Street.

The benefit will begin at 10 a.m. Funeral arrangements are still being planned.

"I'm going to miss you so much," said Gamez. "I'm going to take care of Adalyn ... [and] carry on your memory for her."
