UPDATE: Parts of Highway 6 are flooded, again
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It did not take much rain for water to return to Highway 6, only 5 days after it reopened, another lane is closed because of this high water.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation one lane is closed of Highway 6 southbound at Patterson,
When Highway 6 was shut down, following the devastating 'tax day' flood from last month, thousands of people had to find other ways around the closure. For many it added a lot of stress to their morning and evening commute.
For business owners around Highway 6 it brought things to a stand still as they waited for the water to fall.
"We are really worried about what is going to happen because another full day of rain and they are going to end up closing Highway 6 down again and it's going to go back to nobody coming in here at all," says Dustin Gisclair of Tire Express.
The problem is the Addicks Barker Reservoir.
"Usually before a typical rain like this we would say no problem, they've got plenty of capacity, but just because the reservoirs are high and that's where they are going into this is an area of town, we are watching very closely and a little bit of concern," Kim Jackson with the Harris County Flood Control District said.
There is so much water in the reservoir that when it rains again, there just isn't any where for new rainfall to go.
