Traffic Anchor (and foodie!) Katherine Whaley shares three ways to dress up simple guacamole. All you have to do is start with her basic no-fail recipe, and mix in a few unexpected ingredients. Looking for something savory and cheesy? Try Goat Cheese and Bacon Guacamole? Prefer something on the sweet side? Try the Mango Margarita Guacamole. And looking for a kick? Just try Spicy Sriracha Guacamole.
Basic Guacamole:
Ingredients:
3 ripe avocados
Juice of one lime
1 tsp of salt
Mash avocados to your desired consistency. Mix in lime juice and salt.
Goat Cheese & Bacon Guacamole:
Start with Basic Guacamole.
Mix in 4 strips of cooked, chopped bacon, and 2-3 ounces of crumbled goat cheese. Reserve some bacon and goat cheese for garnish.
Mango Margarita Goat Cheese:
Start with Basic Guacamole.
Mix in one chopped mango (about 2/3 cup) and 1 tablespoon of tequila. Sub additional lime juice for tequila to keep it kid-friendly
Spicy Sriracha Guacamole:
Start with Basic Guacamole.
Mix in 2 tsp Sriracha sauce, and cup minced red onion. Garnish with additional Sriracha.
Serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, veggies... or whatever you want to dip!
