Plenty of Final Four fan events this week in Houston, Steve Campion reports.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Final preparations are underway as Houston gets ready to host the NCAA Final Four. The four day event kicks off Friday and is expected to bring in anywhere from 70,000 to 100,000 out of state visitors.

The welcome signs can be seen across the city, from downtown to the Galleria area. At Discovery Green, Houstonian Kathy Robinson told abc13 she's excited for the event.

"I think it's great for the city of Houston. We see a lot of clean up down here and a lot of action," said Robinson. "We're going to have a lot of visitors."

Another well-known Houstonian, Mayor Sylvester Turner, cleared his schedule for college basketball's biggest game.

"If you want to know what our objective is, it's to put on such a great event and be such a tremendous host, so they'll put us in their rotation like San Antonio," said Mayor Turner. "I'm excited. I'm pumped up for us."

While the basketball games will be played at NRG Stadium, the March Madness Music Festival is free and will be at Discovery Green. The NCAA Fan Fest, which is a ticketed event, is at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
