Holiday decorating tips to make your home sparkle with spirit and joy

You don't have to spend a lot of money decorating this holiday. Get some budget-friendly tips from Tina Rubio and Michael Segura, senior designers at Craftex.

Using Big Ornaments

Tina says sometimes people are afraid to use big ornaments, but they can help you save a lot of money. When you're using bigger ornaments, you end up using fewer ornaments in the tree. Use covered wire, thread it through the ornament, twist it and then twist into the tree.

For the Mantle

Mantle pieces can cost you a lot of money if you don't know what to do with them, Tina says, but if you get your garland and cut it in half, you save money right there and the other half you can use for another purpose. The more ribbon you use the better it looks, she says. Wire ribbon works best.

To thread the ribbon stick it in between the garland and twist the garland around the ribbon. Arch it a little bit and repeat the same process of twisting it into the garland. Repeat the process until you're done with the end of the garland and cut your ribbon.

Make small bows to add onto your garland and use heavy wire to attach it.

Centerpieces

Michael recommends taking ordinary container -- whether it's a glass vase or an heirloom container and fill it with ordinary ornaments you might have around your house. To dress it up even more he takes a wreath and puts it around the glass -- in an instant you've got a beautiful center piece. Kick that look up a notch by taking the wreath and the container and insert it into an elevated pedestal bowl. It's a very elegant look!
