One taken to hospital after SUV drives into salon

PASADENA, TX

It happened on Harris near Witter. The SUV came through the window at an angle and the three people who were inside at the time are truly lucky to be alive.

"I was waiting for my haircut, listening to music on my iPhone," customer Osiel Jimenez said. "I just heard something extremely loud, I looked up, truck was coming through."

Jimenez was nearly crushed underneath the white Yukon.

"I was about to step in but that guy had an appointment so he just sat down. So I was just waiting. I guess I got lucky," Jimenez said.

As the owner, Maria, tended to another customer, the Yukon barreled into the barber shop, pinning the customer's leg against the railing. She managed to dart away and call her nephew.

"When I got here, I saw a truck inside the shop," Maria's relative, Cesar Garcia, said.

Paramedics scrambled to situate the injured customer onto a stretcher, while crews removed the SUV. Clean up and repairs will take much longer.

The woman behind the wheel was with her two small children. She says she swerved to avoid another driver cutting her off, but lost control. She and her kids are OK, and fortunately, so is Jimenez.

Maria, who is a grandmother, has a fractured wrist. The customer whose leg was pinned is also expected to recover from his injuries.
