Car leaves hole in southwest Houston Shipley's donut shop

HOUSTON

It happened around 3am at the store on Bissonnet and Newcastle.

The owner tells us the driver lost control and drove through the landscaping of a nearby Valero gas station before crashing into his store.

We caught him sweeping up the mess left behind and he says this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

"This is the second time this has happened. In the 70's, I had a shop in Weslayan plaza and someone come in the front door and demolished my shop so it's an old hat," store owner George Abercia said.

The driver was not injured. He was taken into custody for possible drunk driving.

The owner boarded up the hole and plans on being open for business this morning.
