HOUSTON --
A family managed to escape a house fire in northeast Harris County but two pets weren't as fortunate. Fire officials say the family of four with some additional relatives were all inside the home on Verdun and Hartman when flames broke out. Everyone was able to escape, but two pet dogs did not make it out.
Firefighters believe the fire started in a bedroom, but it remains under investigation.
