According to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received a call around 3:45pm Thursday from James Albert Nesler, 61, who told them he hadjust shot his son at their home in the 1100 block of County Road 450. When officers arrived, the father told them he shot his son, JA Nesler, during an argument.
The elder Nesler said he tried to shoot his son in the shoulder to "warn" him, but the shot from a 3.57 revolver hit his son in the chest. JA Nesler was pronounced dead at the scene.
A judge ordered an autopsy on the son, and Liberty County officials filed a murder charge against James Albert Nesler. He is in custody in the Liberty County Jail. No bond has been set.
