Group of orchestra students aim to be first middle schoolers to perform at Carnegie Hall

HOUSTON

The trip is technically for high schools, but instructor Jose Rocha knew his kids were good enough. All 49 of them practice every day.

The orchestra will be the first middle school from the Houston area to perform in Carnegie Hall.

But there's a catch: The kids have to pay for the trip. They need $46,000, and so far, they've only raised about one third of that.
