It was a botched sting that left one man dead in Harris County, and on Tuesday, one of the suspected gunmen pleaded guilty.

Lawrence Chapa was working as a government informant when he was killed in a shootout, while driving a truck full of marijuana back in November 2011. And in the gunbattle that followed, a Houston police officer accidentally shot a deputy in the leg.

Now one of the four men charged in Chapa's death pleaded guilty.

Ricardo Ramirez was about to go on trial here in Houston. With his guilty plea, he was sentenced to life in prison. The other three men charged are still awaiting trial.
