The fire broke out just before 6am along the Eastex Freeway near Tidwell Road.
According to HFD PIO Jay Evans, the motel was abandoned. There are no reports of any injuries.
It's unclear what started the fire. HFD Arson investigators are looking into the cause.
At least three northbound frontage lanes along the Eastex Freeway at Tidwell Road were being blocked by emergency vehicles. All lanes have since reopened.
