Crews spent Monday afternoon clearing a big mess in Sugar Land.

A large cottonwood tree split right down the middle and toppled over near the M.R. Wood Education Center. Employees there say the tree was extremely old and may have been leaning to one side a bit too much, causing it to finally give way.

No one was hurt. There was slight damage to the roof.
